How likely are Sony to release the Playstation 4 in the near future?

Fairly likely I'd say, but impossible to predict...
Ignore anyone that says the next PlayStation will be out this year or next, we'd know about it by now!
I've been expecting Sony to officially announce they are working on the next console at some point this year, which would realistically mean that it would be released late 2014/15, just my thoughts and this year, Sony have to make sure that the PSVita takes off and does well, if it doesn't, there might not be a PS4(?)
The thing that i can see happening is Sony will follow Apple lead, instead of an iPhone 5, they released the 4S, instead of a whole new model, they just upgraded the old one with better hardware and features.
Expect Sony to 'upgrade' the PS3 to, something like 3.5
It could have better wireless connectivity, because we all know downloading something from the PlayStation store takes WAAAAAAAAY too long, especially using wireless connections.
It could have more memory built in so that we could have the (somehow) much wanted cross-game-chat and other features, maybe even cloud storage for everyone and not just PSPlus members?
For Sony to release a whole new console, there would have to be some kind of major advancement in technology.
PS1 used CD-ROM + Coaxial/AV video
PS2 used DVD-ROM + Coaxial/AV/selected) HD
PS3 used BlueRay ROM + AV/HDMI
There isn't anything that can be used by a new PlayStation console to make it worthwhile for Sony to spend money to make and sell.

There has been a lot of rumors going around saying the ps4 will be set up so that you can only play a game when you buy it directly new. So if you picked up a used game from kijiji you couldn't play it.

1. Overall performance of around 500 GFLOPs for the whole Cell Processor at 3.2GHz.
2. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 560
3. XDR2 operates at double the CPU speed, so 6.4GHz to 7.6GHz is expected even though it can operate at up to 8GHz
4. 2 to 4 USB 3.0 connections are to be expected.

What would the Playstation 4 support, Would it be more advanced than 1920 x 1080p?
When the new release of the playstation 4 comes out around about 3-4 years from now, would it support a newer type of system all together (meaning would the tv definition have to change). I recently read a post about High Def becoming 2060p, or even 2160p but i wasn't so sure. Any Suggestions.

I'm sure sony is barely in development on a PS3 yet. as far is resolution goes, I highly doubt that it will get much higher than it is because the human eye can't tell the difference of anything much higher. Most people can barely tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, unless it's on a huge screen, so making anything higher than 1080p would be kind of useless, besides being able to charge more for the TV.....
