Well both originally were expected to come out sometime around 2014-2015 but it seems that the Wii U announcement has accelerated their respective launches to maybe E3 2012. So at least the announcement of both would be 1 day apart for the most.

What's the best way to play a region 1 DVD on a Region 4 Playstation 2?

I have a Region 1 DVD (boxset, so I don't want to burn the whole lot) which my sister wants to play on her Playstation 2, which I assume is in Region 4 format. Is there a free (or cheap) program or hack which will unlock the PS2 region encoding permanently?
